The Icelandic Fisheries Exhibition in Kópavogur, Iceland is held on a three-year cycle, and will take place next time 13-15 September 2017. In 2014 the exhibition saw attendance increase by 12% to more than 15,000 international industry professionals and buyers from more than 50 different countries. The exhibition is one of the most important and largest fishing exhibition in the North Atlantic dedicated to commercial fishing and the related processing industry.
The exhibition has over the years gained a real international scope and attention, as the exhibition organizers have put great efforts in promoting Icelandic Fisheries Exhibition internationally. In 2014 the Icelandic Fisheries Exhbition received incoming delegations from America, Africa and the Far East.
The fisheries sector represents a key economic factor in Iceland and today stands for a significant proportion of Iceland’s export income amounting to 45% of the total exportation of Iceland. Furthermore, approximately 10,500 people are directly employed by the fisheries industry and the value of the total catch in 2015 amounted to EUR 1,2 billion which was an increase of 15% on the previous year alone.
Iceland possesses a fleet of more than 1,600 registered fishing vessels landing close to 1,5 million tons per year. The Icelandic fleet is characterized by being one of the most sophisticated, modern and efficient fleets in the world with skippers and vessel owners updating and modernizing their fleet frequently. Participation at Icelandic Fisheries Exhibition is an ideal platform offering Danish suppliers the opportunity to showcase their solutions and meet new business contacts and relevant decision-makers.
